Rainy Friday Notes

Hello and Happy Rainy Friday!

*Today was our first Spelling Test! Your kiddos did well, we were super proud of them! We made corrections if your child wrote the letter backwards, but they were not marked incorrect if they did so. Some of your children wrote Kk instead of Cc - we did not mark them incorrect, technically Kk makes the same sound as Cc! If your child did not do as well as you had hoped, continue to work with them on being able to identify letters after you tell them the sound. A few of our students were able to name the letter, but could not remember how to write them - so this would be great to work on at home as well! Thank you for working with your child at home on these important skills, this will build the foundation for all of their future writing and reading.

*Does your family still receive the newspaper? If so, we need your help! We need the pages of classified ads from newspapers for a project we will be doing soon. If you could send in any pages of classified ads, we would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

*Scholastic Book Orders are in and will be sent home by Monday. Thank you to everyone who ordered books!

*Monday we are having the illustrator and author Nate Evans visit our school! He will be reading his new book to the classes. We are super excited!

*On Wednesday, September 12th we are having our Teddy Bear Clinic. Don't forget to send your child to school with a small stuffed animal. The volunteers from Fry's Pharmacy & the Little Clinic will be talking about the importance of staying healthy and how we can stay healthy.

*On Monday we will send home a slip of paper that lets you know what groups your child is in for Reading, Writing, and Math. You will be able to use that information to see what your child will be working on during centers with their leveled groups.

*Thank you to all of our parent volunteers! We have had a very successful first week of parents volunteering during centers - thank you so much for all your hard work! It is greatly appreciated!

Have a wonderful (and probably rainy) weekend!
-Mrs. Kochis & Mrs. Bonilla
